 and if anyone is even still reading at this point, i realize i should have
 somewhere stuck a "hey thanks" in here to tim for writing this layer in
 the first place. I hope all my comments and suggestions wont get taken the
 wrong way. I have a tendency to go overboard with that kind of stuff.
