 I think this may be a candidate for 'addins' -- not really necessary for
 trunk, but could help out a fair number of users, and is more 'application
 level' code that it makes sense to have seperately. I've sent an email to
 the mailing list asking for opinions: I'll mark this needs discussion
 until I hear more back on that front.
